Poľský horolezec a himalájista, ale aj režisér, scenárista a fotograf. Vystúpil na päť osemtisícových vrcholov, vrátane K2, a dvakrát stál na vrchole Mount Everestu. Tvorí najmä dokumenty s horskou tematikou. Jeho dobrodružstvo s horským filmom sa začalo v roku 1997, kedy sa ako horolezec a kameraman zúčastnil poslednej výpravy vedenej legendárnym Andrzejom Zawadom. Na svojom konte má viac ako tucet filmov o horolezeckých expedíciách, ktorých protagonistami sú poprední poľskí i zahraniční himalájisti. V roku 2001 získal jeho film Przypadki pani Ani o expedícii Anny Czerwińskej  ocenenia na mnohých festivaloch horských filmov a kvalifikoval sa do finále Banff World Tour, rovnako ako jeho ďalší film Ciao Martina (2004) o vzťahu medzi horolezcom Simone Morom a jeho dcérou. Za film Annapurna na lekko (2008) o výstupe Piotra Pustelnika, Piotra Morawského a Petra Hámora v SZ stene Annapurny získal cenu na VI. Festivale horských filmov v Krakove a cenu za najlepší horský film na Medzinárodnom festivale horských filmov vo Vancouveri.

V roku 2021 mu Medzinárodná aliancia pre horský film (International Alliance for Mountain Film) udelila prestížnu cenu Grand Prize 2021 za prínos pre kinematografiu a horskú kultúru. Stal sa tak súčasťou vybranej skupiny filmárov, ktorí sa zapísali do histórie horskej kinematografie 21. storočia.


Dariusz Załuski, the renowned Polish mountaineer and Himalayan climber, is also a film director, screenwriter and photographer. He has climbed five 8000m peaks including K2 and Mt. Everest twice. Dariusz specialises in documentary films about mountains. His mountain film adventure started in 1997 when he participated as a mountaineer and cameraman in the last expedition lead by the legendary Polish alpinist Andrzej Zawada. He has made over a dozen documentaries about mountaineering expeditions featuring prominent Polish and foreign climbers in the Himalayas. His documentary “Przypadki pani Ani” about Anna Czerwińska’s expedition received awards at a number of mountain film festivals and qualified for the “Banff World Tour” in 2001. Another of Dariusz’s award winning films, “Ciao Martina (2004) was about the relationship between the climber Simone Moro and his daughter. His next documentary film, “Annapurna na lekko” (2008) that followed the ascent in the north west face of Annapurna by Piotr Pustelnik, Piotr Morawski and Peter Hámor won an award at the 6th Krakow Mountain Festival and won the best mountain film award at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival.

In 2021, Dariusz was selected by the International Alliance for Mountain Film for the prestigious “Grand Prize 2021” for his excellence in the fields of cinematography and mountain culture, thus becoming one of the few filmmakers to have made history in mountain cinematography in the 21st century.
